Corvette World’s Second Annual Corvettes Cruisin’ Galveston June 3rd-5th 2016

Important Update:

Yes, the thing we expected, but truly hoped wouldn’t happen has. The rain is still coming down and we are now left to monitor this mess and begin discussing options. That said, if the rain stops and the city officials can clear the Strand, then we will be trying to go with the plans in place. If — for some reason — the Strand doesn’t become available, and the rains continue… We may go to a plan B. The host hotel (Moody Gardens), has a multilevel covered parking facility, so we may have a contingency. As we type this, there may be an end to the rain this morning and the day may indeed be saved! We will keep posting as this rain and situation “clears up.” Thank you all for your patience.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR June 3rd, 4th and 5th

Just as last year, the show will be in the Galveston “Historic Strand District”. The “Strand” is a great venue with partial cobblestone streets (no fears, they are Corvette friendly stones) and historic buildings from the 1800s. The Strand National Historic Landmark District was the heart of Galveston in the late 1800s and early 1900s when its star was bright and it was full of great promise, often referenced as both the “New York” and “Wall Street” of Texas.

Many buildings still remain that were built in that era, built with all the best talents and materials that the society of the time was capable of. Fine architects designed both the mansions along Broadway and the buildings in the Strand area in styles inspired by the golden ages of the Greeks or the Victorians. A surprising number escaped the devastation of the 1900 hurricane, and still remain.

The Strand is also the center of Mardi Gras celebrations, Dickens on the Strand festivities, and — of course — fine dining, antiques, shopping, and art galleries.

It is going to be very high profile, great event moving forward into the future. Don’t miss signing up for this — our second annual event — you won’t regret it!

As far as the weather, the event will be handled exactly as it was last year – “Rain or Shine.”

As you well know, there is no way to have a rain date for such an event as this… with hotels contracts, the city of Galveston, permits, police, banquet hall, meals, dumpsters, port-a-potties, and the such involved. All of our contracts for the event are also non-refundable and were paid for up front.

Last year we had flooding in Houston along with torrential rains, but Galveston Island saw no rain on the show day or Sunday. We – obviously – are hoping for similar results for this year’s show.

That all said — and the fact that all bills have been prepaid for the event — there will be no protocol for any type of refund. Also please remember that this is a charity event with all proceeds going to charity. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

If you fail to pickup your registration packet on Friday at Moody Gardens — or have yet to register for the event — ON SATURDAY MORNING, SIMPLY DRIVE NORTH UP 25th STREET UNTIL YOU REACH ONE OF THE EVENT STAFF… Tell them you need your Registration Packet -or- that you need to Register you car, and they will direct you to our remote registration station.
